Tornado Track Climatology

The map below of tornado tracks from 1961 - 1990 shows that weaker tornados are more common than stronger tornadoes and that tornados in general occur more frequently in the Mid-West. The bulk of tornadoes occur in the late spring and summer, but tornado formation is possible year round in the proper atmospheric conditions are met.
